The VS2 has a fiddle base (see my avatar) and is equivalent to your "bullet bobbin" machine (I assume it's a Singer 27). These are the same machines, except for a few cosmetic differences. You could call it an upgrade and replace your 27 with a VS2: Very good looking fiddle base and makes a really lovely stitch. The cabinet is usually a coffin top, too. If you Google it you'll just want one .
I had to get rid of my 66 treadle. Beautiful machine but since it's a rotating hook, I replaced it with a portable 201 (the ultimate rotating hook machine) then again with a later aluminium version.
