Your quilts for boys are great. They are truly masculine for the little fellows. I share your concern about all the bias edges on Jenny Doan's method making half-square triangles for this square. I made a sample so I would not forget about it. I cut my 10inch square on the bias and it made all those usually bias edges on the straight of grain. It does not waste fabric.
