I had that problem a few years ago and had it fixed. The cost was $300.00 then. A few months ago I had another problem and took it in and found that it could not be fixed because the part was no longer available. I know the repairman very well and know he checked everywhere to be sure.
Have since bought a baby lock and am well satisfied.
