OBW's are all about the printed fabric and the quilting - no matter what you do doesn't show much. I'd do a large "S" curve down each row you sewed together. So half of the "S" would be in each triangle. Just start on one end and make continual S's all the way the length of the row. This would bisect your triangles about half way across, giving you the distance you need to meet what your batting requires. Do you have any preview plastic? You could try laying that on your quilt and drawing on that w/ a Sharpie marker to see if that pattern will be what you want.
