Thanks, everyone. I ended up buying a frame with an inset space to leave a small amount of room between the glass and the wool piece. I then covered the mat with the wool flannel. It looks nice---except I think I should have used a different colored background under the daisies. Next time, I'm going to try stitching around the piece to see how that looks.
