I include the poem "It's okay if you sit on your quilt; it's okay if you spit on your quilt' etc - you can find it via Google - with the utility baby quilts I give away BECAUSE I make them to be used. They're not fussy-pieced, and they're not hand quilted. I include washing instructions - MACHINE washing! Some of those babies have received a wedding quilt later in their life, and that one is fancier AND it's hand quilted - or (now that my thumbs don't work any more) fancier machine quilted. My DGD and DGSs have all used and used their baby quilts MUCH to my GREAT pleasure. I'm happy to mend them as needed, and they all know I made them, so they're building memories of me. Isn't that what we want? A quilt sitting in a dark closet doesn't build memories.
