I use " Charlies" method and Love the way it makes up. This method builds a quilt fast and finished. It will really use up scraps too.
As an aside, I don't understand the concept of a flat quilt. personally, the texture created by quilt process only enhance a quilt that is to be used and loved. I will leave the flat quilts to the wonderful people who can achieve it.
