An Italian came to look at a 206 Singer a few months ago and didn't like it. When he asked what else I had I said a Necchi. He shook his head and said "No Necchis - no good" and instead took my 1938 201 which was missing its slide plate.
That machine (a supernova) was one of the smoothest machines I've ever had. I bought a Julia a few months ago and it's a great machine too. On the other side, Amelia's supernova was a real piece of crap, due to total lack of maintenance. They just need to be looked after and they'll look after you. So smooth.
