I have solved this problem by just not making my bed
My husband and I each have our own good size quilts to use as we see fit. I make whatever quilts that appeal to me, but generally only make those big enough to be a good size lap or bigger. I also don't know what to do with small quilts unless they are for babies. I like square shapes just for some of the designs that I find appealing.
