You didn't say what size the pieced blocks are. I might just start looking at making the borders bigger especially using that nice rich dark green. This is when the computer program Electric Quilt comes in handy. If you PM me with your dimensions, I can draw a design of what the final size will work.
Another idea would be making some squares on point for the next border. That might give you the extra width you are looking for.
