I bought mine new in 1983. My dealer then told me Bernina considered this machine to be a "semi-industrial" machine. It came with a heavy plastic carrying case & a nice wood sewing machine cabinet/table. I used it to sew everything, including heavy leather. I used it so much I wore the teeth off feed dogs. In all the years I've had this machine I only had it serviced a few times. It's a true workhorse.

You can no longer buy the original foot pedal, but they do have one that is a little bigger in size that works the same, i.e. heal down/needle down.

If you buy one & it doesn't come with the owners manual I think you can do a search & print one out.
