If it belonged to the store and If you did not buy it - I would have also had a hissy-fit.
I would have had a fit, too. My nail polish gets thick quickly enough after it's opened without someone in the store using it and getting oils and other things from their nails into it before hand. When I buy nail products or cosmetics, I expect them to be in new condition. Not slightly used by whoever comes by and wants to try them out.
