I'm in the non pre-wash group. Mostly because when I decide to get started on something, I want to start right away! I use color catchers in the dryer and have never had a problem. I've made red and white quilts, black and white quilts and bleeding hasn't been a problem. I do understand the concerns about chemicals, but this is something I have never worried about. I like working with the fabrics before they are washed.

I do love how the people on this board can say what they choose to do and why, without denigrating others. Other forums and boards that I have been on in the past have not been that way. That is why this is now my "GO TO" Board!

And that was ok before the big, bad, ole EBOLA bug came to town! LOL! Two walmart employees had a fit the other day because I was putting some nail polish on one of my fingernails, they said they would have to take it because it was now contaminated, and something about Ebola. I said, REALLY? what if I want to buy it? She said then it was ok, that I could take it, LOL! I shopped for another half hour or so, do you really think she would've known if I dropped the polish off in the meat dept!!!

Like others, I wash yardage but not pre cuts. When I began quilting I was so intent on getting started I did not do any prep however, since experimenting I have found the extra prep worked for me. Washing and lightly starching has helped me get better results.

Was this nail polish you already owned? If so, why wait until you were in the store applying it?

If not, did you buy it?

If it belonged to the store and If you did not buy it - I would have also had a hissy-fit.

I would have had a fit, too. My nail polish gets thick quickly enough after it's opened without someone in the store using it and getting oils and other things from their nails into it before hand. When I buy nail products or cosmetics, I expect them to be in new condition. Not slightly used by whoever comes by and wants to try them out.
