Default Help with Singer Model and year

I recently bought this Singer for my grandson's girlfriend, who wants to learn to sew; I'm going to teach her. I haven't yet seen the machine myself but my son, who works with the person selling it, sent these photos; I think it looks lovely. It's missing a spool spindle, he says, but otherwise no bad or missing parts, and according to the seller, sewed fine the last time she used it. We paid $25 for it. The modern cabinet it's in (no pic, sorry) looks great -- no dings, no scratches.

I think it's probably a late 50s, early 60s model. When I get to see the actual machine I'll know more, including, hopefully, a model number, but meantime, I'd appreciate anything you machine experts can, and are willing, to tell me. (Frankly, if I didn't have four already and no more room, I'd have bought this one for myself!)

Thanks!
