Default Help with Singer Model and year

I recently bought this Singer for my grandson's girlfriend, who wants to learn to sew; I'm going to teach her. I haven't yet seen the machine myself but my son, who works with the person selling it, sent these photos; I think it looks lovely. It's missing a spool spindle, he says, but otherwise no bad or missing parts, and according to the seller, sewed fine the last time she used it. We paid $25 for it. The modern cabinet it's in (no pic, sorry) looks great -- no dings, no scratches.

I think it's probably a late 50s, early 60s model. When I get to see the actual machine I'll know more, including, hopefully, a model number, but meantime, I'd appreciate anything you machine experts can, and are willing, to tell me. (Frankly, if I didn't have four already and no more room, I'd have bought this one for myself!)

Thanks!

it's a singer 327 made between 1960 and 1965. above the stitch regulator lever there is a tiny number on the plate that's the model number. Ismac has a manual available. it's a lovely machine. mine is a 328k and it has the ability to use different cams. oh and she uses class 66 bobbins

manual: http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_mach...ine-manual.pdf

from your photo: http://i.imgur.com/jvm7jv5.png it's a 327k so it's from Scotland

Thanks for this! We were eager to find a manual and I knew someone here would know if there was one online. It does say "Great Britain" on the base but from what I read online, the green ones were made in Canada so I didn't know. I'm so looking forward to getting my hands on this machine!

I have that very machine bought new for myself the end of 1964. I made my first quilt on it, flannel of all things! It still works great and has given me no trouble over the years.

I had one and gave it to my granddaughter. She had to store her furniture, so I told her to bring it back home.ha.

It's a cutie. So many machines...so little room.

Love the look of it. I can understand why you can hardly wait to play with it.
