While this one is truly a Christmas wall hanging, I purposely chose fabrics that would not "scream" Christmas, so it can stay up for part of the winter. The centre ornaments are all paper pieced, using the traditional SAS block design.
Thank you to a Dear Friend for nudging me to join her in making this pattern. We each worked on it at the same time, helping to choose each other's fabric and then the assembly progress via emails. First challenge ... what fabrics to use? Finding eight that worked together was the hardest part of the whole process. Every time we thought we were there, then nope! Believe me, we each spent a lot more time choosing the fabrics than making the actual quilt. And talk about adding to the stash! 
Ornamental Bliss is a pattern designed by Liz Schwartz and Stephen Seifert.
Mine is made at 75% of the original pattern size, finishing at 37"x45".

This was FMQd on my DSM. To give some bling, each ornament was quilted with a coordinating metallic thread, using what I have called an "onion" design! Machine embroidery threads were used for the micro-stippled background and border. A few rows of echo quilting were put around all the ornaments.

Using the leftover fabrics, I made a runner and vase mat, to give me some practice work with the metallic threads, before going to the "real" thing.
