I bought a Brother 1034D new a few years ago for about $200. I learned how to thread it. I agree that the air threading is nice, but, there are Youtube videos that make threading a regular one relatively easy. But, around here, with all the garage/estate sales I go to (which is many) and all the passes I make at the 4 thrift stores in my circle, I have only seen one serger. Maybe used are more plentiful in your neck of the woods.
