Default Size Really Does Matter!

So I'm piecing along on the Half Spools Kit from CT. Everything is going smoothly. Seams are matching. Not cutting off points, etc.
Then I start laying out the blocks. It's starting to look a little biggish for the wall I had picked out. And yes, it does say how big it is. But 70" really didn't mean anything to me. So I measure the wall. I only have 48" of usable height. And 78" of width.
AAH. What to do?
Would you leave off the really cute 9 patch border? And possibly make another quilt out of those? I have one other wall that is a possiblity. But part of the quilt would extend into the dormer and not be very visible. And being so tall, half of it would be at the bottom half of the wall.
Honestly, I probably have enough units cut out to make 3 smaller quilts.
That's a lot of spools, but hey, it's a sewing room.
Anybody else ever do something like this?
All opinions welcome.
One monster quilt weighing in at 70x70? Or several smaller ones all around my sewing room?
