Size Really Does Matter!
So I'm piecing along on the Half Spools Kit from CT. Everything is going smoothly. Seams are matching. Not cutting off points, etc.
Then I start laying out the blocks. It's starting to look a little biggish for the wall I had picked out. And yes, it does say how big it is. But 70" really didn't mean anything to me. So I measure the wall. I only have 48" of usable height. And 78" of width.
AAH. What to do?
Would you leave off the really cute 9 patch border? And possibly make another quilt out of those? I have one other wall that is a possiblity. But part of the quilt would extend into the dormer and not be very visible. And being so tall, half of it would be at the bottom half of the wall.
Honestly, I probably have enough units cut out to make 3 smaller quilts.
That's a lot of spools, but hey, it's a sewing room.
Anybody else ever do something like this?
All opinions welcome.
One monster quilt weighing in at 70x70? Or several smaller ones all around my sewing room?

Had a look at your pattern, it is very cute. http://www.connectingthreads.com/kit...it__D6788.html
I really like the border on it, maybe make two that would be 3 x 4 blocks and adjust the border to fit? Would that measurement fit into your space?

Beautiful quilt, I would make it keep it as bed quilt or a cosy throw for my sewing room and use the pattern to make a wall hanging, lol, for me it would be an oops moment an excuse to make more than one

I just finished piecing the larger one and taped it to the wall where it's going to go. It's so cheery.

Oh no. Now I've run out of sashing fabric. I didn't realize I'd need more sashing strips to make two quilts. I had to piece the last strip in 3 pieces. That is a problem with a kit.
No extra when you stray from the pattern.

Can you find something that will blend in your stash or local fabric store? Or close to what you already have? Maybe connecting threads has some of the material. Worth a try, can't see the quilt as when I go to site given that have taken it down.

Man handling a 70" quilt is a chore I did once and will never do again. I'd make two quilts. You say you've run out of sashing fabric so change it on the second one, bet you'll be very proud when you have two done.
