Gemutlichkeit is the way our family has always spelled the word - going back to Ronneburg back in 1714. It is the only way I learned to spell it and not that I know that much about German, it is the way I was taught. You can google it and it comes up as first spelling....with the second spelling coming in with the ue. I use the word quite often and it is the only way we learned how to spell it. So, after a call from my sister yesterday, the Gemutlichkeit word has been painted in for at least the rest of my life. Thanks for the information, though! Edie
