That is a fabulous idea. I have done something similar when making quilt tops with scrap blocks, mostly for family reunion quilts, where I glued a small scrap of fabric in a square to make the quilt top, lots easier than a design wall, for which I do not have the room. If you make the quilt, it will be beautiful.
