Several thoughts crossed my mind reading your post...
1) Thank heavens for rotary cutters we use today
2) how sweet that your 19 yo still cherishes this quilt after so many years and has 'loved it to pieces'
3) She's happy to have it repaired to have to love to pieces some more.
