There are a lot of quilters in the Atlanta area. I believe there is a quilt shop in Mableton called Stitch'N Quilt. I have never been there, but I am sure that they have lots of resources to connect you up with other quilters that live near you.
There are gaming groups all over the city. You can check this site

www.boardgamegeek.com and they often will tell you which game stores have a game night for the game he likes to play (Magic:The Gathering, Android Netrunner, etc.).
