I always wash before storing. You never know what has gotten on fabric, you might not see it today. But weeks months or even years down the road, when you take it out you can find ministry spots. Look at all of the textiles that have little discolored spots on them, you know to the eye nothing was on that quilt before it was put away. Also I never leave any of the basting or glues down for any long periods of time.
