I'd heard that also and tried it, but it didn't work that well for me. I have weird fingers. They're more triangular in shape, flat and wide on top, where the nail is, and then narrows to a point on the pads of my fingers. The leather ones work very well, because they mold to the shape of my weirdo fingers.
