Default thinning the herd ain't going so well...

a while back I was feeling pretty overwhelmed with all the machines I have (as well as lack of time to play with them all let alone figure out what needs doing to them) a bunch were from my mom(she collected at various sales so most were super duper bargains for her and even more for me since they were free...but she got a bunch of 301s and I already had 2 fws and added her centennial to the herd, couple of 99s and other repeats...)

well I thought I'd trade or sell at least a 2-3 of the 301's since I don't particularly think they're beautiful to look at (like the 15's and cool colored ones from the 50s/60s) but loved sewing on my first one (my first vintage machine I bought myself over 10 yrs ago...) well...I decided to grab one out of the closet and picked a black one that had a dullish finish and a lot of the decals worn off, including the center - I can see it if the light hits a certain way or rather, where it WAS - no gold color there now. well she sewed and sewed well. I went ahead and gave her some oil and looked up how to do the bobbin and threading...sigh...sewed on her a little bit w hile watching The Music Man on July 4th...sigh again...her name is PJ (Plain Jane) and she's gone to a quilting bee and one quilt retreat in less than a month and my $2000+ babylock is still in her case while I lovingly tote PJ in and out of the house. she's not leaving me. my mom rescued her and I've 'bonded' I guess...sigh..

I'm afraid to try any more and afraid to get rid of them! what if this happens with every.single.machine?! and even worse is the handcrank I bought has been serviced and is ready for pickup...that shop is FULL of machines and where I succumbed to my own temptation several times (ok 6) within 3 trips thinking maybe I should ask a friend to go pick it up or at least pm her on facebook and ask if there's any temptation there....well other than the other handcrank that I think may be next on my purchase list...kept playing with it 3 different times and really like it...

I hope I'm at least I'm not the only one with this problem...some of these machines really need to go towards trades for others or at least make some space for future must-haves...
