Don't assume that these are not high quality foods just because you haven't heard of the brand, or that "top" familiar brands are the best food for your pet. The foods that were recalled consist of raw meats, which is why there was a possibility of salmonella contamination. (Salmonella is very unlikely to affect the dog, but is more likely to affect the human who handles the meat when feeding the dog). Many people believe that feeding raw meat is better for dogs than feeding kibble, which is much higher in carbohydrates (and lower in protein and fat) than the dog's digestive system can handle.
