Dianne is exactly right - tilt the head back or get a table with a hole for your hand to reach in and change the bobbin. To get the plate off it pops up and twists. PITB IMHO... also hard on the paint. After you have done it a few times it isn't very hard to do though. I guess I got used to changing the bobbin from below on an old industrial machine I used to have.
