When my dad passed away, my children were 5, 7, & 9 yrs old. I snipped a lock of hair from each, and put that in his casket, the kids put a white rose (I put a yellow rose...he had always sung that song to me as a child). A part of us will always be with my dad. I don't think saving the braid is yucky at all...it's a memory.
