I rarely trust any handle for more than a few seconds, I use them more for stability than anything else. On a sewing machine case I assume they are more for lifting the lid than a long term carry.
The hard plastic case is good for slightly damp storage/taking it places in the rain and making it stackable on a rolling cart. Might work on a motorcycle as well.
I wonder if contact paper could make them nicer.
