A note on IKEA Billy bookshelves - they come in a deeper version now, which I was delighted to discover and that's what I bought for my sewing room. The standard bookshelf I think is just under a foot deep? The new ones are more like 15 inches deep. Same height & width as the standard bookshelves, so the doors and such fit either.
I was able to fit five of those into my sewing room, with doors...I LOVE those cabinets. I purchased extra shelves that were glass for I think $10 each; that's my UFO section. The glass makes it so I can put the shelves pretty close together but still see what's there.
