1 qt of chunky applesauce (very chunky) or 4 cups of freshly peeled and sliced apples (your variety choice)
1/3 cup of flour (I've changed it to 1/4 cup flour, 1/2 cup oatmeal
3/4 cup of packed brown sugar
1/8 cup of white sugar
1/2 stick of butter (not softened)
1/4 cup coconut (optional)

Blend all but apples with one of those chopper type tools until you have the butter chopped and blended with the rest of the ingredients.

Spray 8 x 8 pan with Pam or butter (your preference). Add apples to the bottom of the dish, I add Craisins over my apples, then spread the flour mixture over the apple evenly. I add chopped walnuts over the flour mixture. Bake for 1hr at 350. I love to nuke my dessert, then add a dopple of ice cream over it to melt while I eat it.
Tried this last night with a can of apples that I got from somewhere (no I didn't look at the date LOL). With only one can of apples, I would cut way back on the sugars. With more than one can, it should be OK. I did add some Craisins I had and some walnuts, quite tasty!! I'll make it again with real apples.
