I wonder why we would have 20 sets of clue #2, but 30 sets of clue #4?
This is why I think the setting is on-point. The 30-sets are the main block, and the 20-sets (santa hats) are the alternate block. I think Clue 5 HST blocks are for the border, but I haven't figured out where the neutral bricks fit in. They do look sweet nestled up against the HSTs, if rotated correctly, so that may be a possibility. Or, as someone said, there are just enough for them to be part of the setting triangles for the on-point setting.
With 10" blocks (what the star-like blocks turn out to be) on point, with a 3" HST border, we just need an additional 2.5" border to make the dimensions exactly what Bonnie said.
Whatever we end up with, I'm pretty sure I'm going to like this quilt a lot.
