I know they make special low temp solders for pot metal. I haven't worked with the stuff so can't say how good it really is but it might be a possibility.
Good thing about it. With the removable shell you might be able to solder the frame back together without damaging the finish.

I don't think people realize that metal breaks too. I think heavy=unbreakable to most people.
