Yet another Rare machine destroyed by poor packaging....

Is it weird that I think I prefer the "naked" machine? A little finger-breaky to sew on and it'd need its base back on to work I suppose, but I love watching the moving parts of mechanical things. I guess I'm easily amused, LOL.

Actually that was only 9 screws total. (already back together) This comes apart MUCH further. If you look at the bottom, you can see that the three drive components are removable as well.Originally Posted by 19cats
She is just adorable. I wouldn't have the nerve to take it completely apart, but I know you can get back together.

My DD let me know that it was already VERY close to steampunk and with a little work... I said no!Originally Posted by Sewnoma

I just got the OK to toss the packing materials from the original broken one. The "investigation" is over. UPS actually IS honoring the insurance... sad.
I will use the broken one to practice taking the unit ALL the way apart and getting it back together. then I will be doing it to the intact one.
Some of the tolerances on this are just sad. I.E. the hand wheel wobbles a bit if not screwed tight. I can shim it, but come on.. just a little more work and this would have been a great little machine.

That is why this machine is kinda cool, kinda stupid. At that size, if it had been made well (so close) it would have been very marketable.
I have to remind myself that it's a very advanced lockstitch toy machine, not a poorly made adult machine
