Is it weird that I think I prefer the "naked" machine? A little finger-breaky to sew on and it'd need its base back on to work I suppose, but I love watching the moving parts of mechanical things. I guess I'm easily amused, LOL.
My DD let me know that it was already VERY close to steampunk and with a little work... I said no!
I just got the OK to toss the packing materials from the original broken one. The "investigation" is over. UPS actually IS honoring the insurance... sad.
I will use the broken one to practice taking the unit ALL the way apart and getting it back together. then I will be doing it to the intact one.
Some of the tolerances on this are just sad. I.E. the hand wheel wobbles a bit if not screwed tight. I can shim it, but come on.. just a little more work and this would have been a great little machine.
