Hot water and pins do work.
I bought the larger bottle which came with a smaller refillable bottle. The tips got really messed up and neither hot water nor pins would fix. The refillable bottle was a good size and I wish that the company would sell either a new bottle or replaceable tips. I have not seen any in stores or online. I bought some smaller bottles from a scrapbook store.
