Jon may have the answer. I would align the side with the long groove to the left and make sure the needle is set all the up in the clamp. All 128X1 are not the same length so if still skipping stitches lower the needle just a hair and I mean just a hair at a time until it sews a fine stitch. I have never had a problem with my Jones CS as long as I set the needle correctly.
