I agree with everyone who loves the colors and the pop of the gold. I also agree that sashing would enable you to "tone down" the colors that you're not loving together. I'd put several blocks on different backgrounds to see what color you'd like best. Finally, I've been following all the postings on QB for Bonnie Hunter's Allietare. She put her blocks on point, which worked fantastically for her two different blocks, but several people had used different colors and found that joining the blocks in regular rows rather than on point made more "sense" for their particular blocks. You might find that arranging your blocks on point would give you a different viewpoint. I think that the bottom line is that your colors and execution are great, but that you might enjoy all your work just a bit more if you spend some time with a flannel board or maybe EQ to see whether there is a "perfect" arrangement that would please both you and your daughter.
