Default Labyrinth of St. Omer by Wendy Wetzel pattern help

I tracked down the magazine with the pattern, which took some doing. Now that I'm reading it, I would like to make it bigger. I'm wondering if I make the strips 2 inches instead of 1.5, if it would mess the pattern up? Or should I add half an inch to the length of the strips? What do you all think? It says the quilt is 60x60, so I am thinking if I change the size of the strips from 1.5 inch to 2 inch I should add 30 inches to the quilt making it 90x90. Or maybe I'm not thinking correctly at all. I don't want to just slap wider borders on it. I'm just not into borders for a quilt like this. Thanks for any help.
AZNance's quilt is so beautiful that I decided I had to make one. This is the link to her beauty.
