For me, being new & not at quilt stage yet simply practicing, it is trying to piece everything accurately, and line things up...apparently I'm not a natural. I'm thinking basting might be my friend. I am anxious to get on with the assembly of an entire top design.
Recently I 'chain pieced' some different stacks (on the same thread) & that is a new thing for me. woo hoo.
