Oh, I hate that, too. And for that reason, I usually don't, choosing instead to backstitch...which doesn't look nearly as good but gets it done. I don't do FMQ, just straight line and curves, using a stitch on my Brother 450Q. I'd like to FMQ but haven't done it enough yet.
