Like a few others here, DH and I have maintained separate accounts for years. When we were first married, he was in college, I was the one working - I tried to always make sure he had a little spending money (granted, it wasn't much - we didn't have much). A few years later, when first DD came along and I was the one w/out an income, he wasn't quite as generous as I had been. Don't get me wrong - he is a saver, and that has its positives, too! He also has NO clue what this hobby costs.

The reason I quoted your response, Martha Jo, was that I just wanted to say what a wonderful story it is. I'm so glad you had someone who encouraged you during the good times, that you were there for him in the bad, and I believe that he's encouraging you still.
