There is a quilt shop near me that has two FWs for sale at nearly $500 each! Nope, not buying. I had the opportunity to get two several years ago in the $250-$260 price range, and my DH came home from an auction with one, having paid $175 for it...and yes, they all work beautifully. I also purchased a Singer 99K from a friend who got one at an auction (she does not sew), but the motor seems to have died. I will get it serviced and see what they have to say about it, and if the motor truly is dead, I plan on converting it to a hand-crank.
