OK, I saw one once, for some reason I remember her calling it a 'tongue' quilt. I googled it, but came up empty so maybe I am not remembering the name correctly. Your referring to a shoe horn shape sounds right. They were about 3" long, and about 2" wide and curved on the end. 2 pieces of fabric, then turned, seems to me, no batting, attached to the edge of the quilt, then a narrow facing applied to the back. I'd just make a few and come up with a pleasing size & go for it. Don't remember how she handled the corners...
