There are a gozillion different types of quilts so don't belabor your pretty little mind as to why you have an aversion to "scrappy". It's probably the same reason why some people love orange and others despise it. Don't care for scrappy quilts in the sense of "doing it myself" but that's not to say I haven't seen some I thought were gorgeous. I just personally prefer to work on quilts that are organized with focal, resting places for my eye and not too cluttered with multiple colors .....to each his own .
