I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my front load washer, a Whirlpool Duet. Our clothes are clean and done in little water, only as much as is needed. I have never had any smells....I leave the door open all the time. I am mystified as to why one would not like their's. I find much less lint (your clothes being worn out) in the dryer with the front loader because the washing action is so much gentler.
What I hate is my new dishwasher, a Bosch....almost $900. It stinks!! In spite of taking almost 3 hours (2 3/4 hours), there is dirty water left in the center cup, which really stinks. My daughter has the same model and her's stinks, too. Google produced others with the same problem. It's disgusting.....stay away.
I wish you gals would tell us the brands you like/don't like so we can beware of them.
my Bosch dishwasher is great. We were using the wrong detergent so the repairman gave us some samples and dishes are clean and it is whisper quiet
the house we moved into had whirlpool duets. Relatively new. Awful. Got rid of them. Took forever to complete a wash cycle. Had them serviced but were advised at that point repairs not worth it. Still very pleased with new GE top loader with agitator. It is HE but I can override the water level to fill it all the way up.
