My new dishwasher, a Frigidaire Gallery model, is quiet too. And it has an odor to it when the cycle is complete. They manufacturer calls it the "new dishwasher smell" it's quite over powering at first. The solution I found is as soon as the cycle is done is to leave the door open a little to vent it and to let the dishes air dry. I use the liquid dishwasher soap, Cascade something .....lol I found that the powdered form leaves a icky slime under the food trap and blades.
This new dishwasher is so easy to clean, the filter is stainless steel and it comes out along with the bottom water blade and food trap basket (they call it the glass trap).
