My quilting guild had a tie challenge. We had a big bag of ties we passed around. The ties I had, I just took apart and washed. If they weren't washing machines tough enough, oh well. You can use any pattern that fits your ties. Most of the ties did just fine. I made crazy quilt squares and used the tags from the ties. I've seen some beautiful Dresden plate blocks.
