I feel the same way. All of my NICU quilts have prewashed fabric, and I don't use any spray starch or basting spray. I do like the crisp look of the finished quilt. As for the large ones, I agree that quilts can be washed way too much. I suggest that they are washed in cold water, gentle cycle and low, tumble or line dry. I have made and given many many quilts and have not had any issues.
